2009 Spirit Player and Champion Jordan Spieth (USA) has joined a rather lengthy list of male golf professionals that have opted out of the Olympics.

Spieth, who has said all along he would love to represent the U.S. in the Olympics, voiced concerns about security and the Zika virus two weeks ago at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational.

Spieth was on the golf course at Royal Troon preparing for the 145th British Open when the announcement was made. His agent, Jay Danzi, said Spieth would not comment Monday, instead choosing to take questions during his meeting with the media on Tuesday.
