There are several former Spirit Players atop the leaderboard at The Open Championship this week.  Given how many of these have been playing lately, this is not surprising.  What is surprising is the weather.  Hot and dry conditions have made the golf course very difficult, something that is clear to see while watching the broadcast.  On top of that, there were several complaints about hole locations during the first round.

Surely, this will be dealt with as the week goes on.  Here are a few notes on some Spirit Players atop the leaderboard.

Jordan Spieth.  Coming off a win last week, Jordan has been playing some incredible golf.  He had a rough finish to his second round, but remains in the top 20 and poised to strike over the weekend.

Charl Scwartzel. Despite a struggling opening round 75, Scwartzel finished string today with a 68, one of the lowest rounds of the day so far.  Schwartzel made some headlines yesterday after demolishing his 6-iron during a shot on the 15th hole.

Francesco Molinari. Had a great opening round, only to follow that up with a 74 in the second round.  However, Molinari is also in the top 20 and positioned well for the weekend.
