2011 Spirit teammates Emily Tubert and Austin Ernst have both qualified for the US Women’s Open this week at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, NY.  Tubert shot 143 to qualify at the West Palm Beach, FL sectional qualifier and Ernst shot 145 at the Atlanta, GA sectional.     In addition, Spirit Players Brooke Mackenize and Tiffany Joh also made it through sectional qualifying.   Defending US Women’s Open champion and 2003 Spirit Player , Na Yeoun Choi will also be playing to defend her title at Sebonack.  Choi played in the 2003 Spirit International and lead her team to a tie for 5th place.

While the 2011 US Team claimed the International Team title, the pair of Tubert and Ernst finished third, only 2 strokes behind Korea.  It was apparent throughout the week of the Championship that Ernst and Tubert bonded and played very well with each other.  Hopefully, they will have time to reconnect this week in New York and play well at the Women’s National Championship.

Good luck to all former Spirit Players at the U.S. Women’s Open this week.
